Caliph Rady Allahu ‘anh was the first to authorize combat on boats; and centuries later the Mediterrean itself was under the care of the fleets of the Uthmaniyya Khilafate (named after Osman Ghazi, may Allah have mercy on him). And thus, for hundreds of years, the Mediterranean Sea was nicknamed The Uthmani Lake.
