WHAT ARE MY CREDENTIALS
I am a descendant of the Holy Prophet ﷺ through both Imam al-Hasan (paternally) and Imam al-Husayn (maternally). I have studied spiritual psychology (Sufism) across seven sacred orders—Chishti, Qadiri, Jerrahi, Ba‘alawi, Shadhili, Naqshbandi, and ’Uwaysi. By Allah’s grace, I have seen the Holy Prophet ﷺ in my dreams four times, as well as visions of Caliphs ’Uthman (3), ’Umar (2), ’Ali and Abu Bakr (1 each); I was also taught in dream by Prophets Musa and al-Khizr, and introduced to Prophet Dhul-Kifl—peace be upon them all. Academically, I hold three degrees in writing, including an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have been married nearly twenty years, withstanding a five-year separation during which I missed the birth of two of our three children. MashaAllah.
DOES THIS POEM RHYME
The poem is written in rhyming couplets. The rhythm is iambic pentameter, which is what you find throughout Shakespeare’s work. The content is suitable for any adolescent or older.
IS THE EPIC JUST ABOUT MARRIAGE
The word “marriages” in the title encompasses more than just the union of individuals; it symbolizes pivotal moments in the life of the Caliph. It reflects his enduring efforts to nurture a sense of unity and togetherness within the community of believers, binding them through love, sacrifice, and shared purpose.
WHY DID I WRITE THIS EPIC
Studying and reflecting on the life of the venerable Caliph ’Uthman transformed me. What began as a journey through thoughts of anger and revenge became a path toward serenity, humility, and service. His story is one of being deeply present in the world, yet untouched by its distractions. In my search for a spiritual lineage rooted in his legacy, I found the inspiration to write this epic—a testament to the profound guidance his life offers to us all.
WHY DID IT TAKE 12 YEARS TO WRITE
Beyond studying hadiths that honor our master ’Uthman ibn ’Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, I sought to write with authenticity, depth, and an experiential understanding. After completing the first three chapters, I realized that true insight could not be gained from books alone. I turned to spiritual teachers, seeking truths that could only be passed down through direct experience. Over time, I was blessed with a profound accumulation of love and light, which ultimately allowed the final chapters of this epic to take shape.
HOW CAN YOU TRUST THIS POEM
For truth, turn to the Qur’an and Hadith. For love, read this poem. Only research and Sufi teachings that align with orthodox Sunni appreciation of the Companions were included. The sequence of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs is faithfully followed. The goal is to present the timeline of Hadhrat ’Uthman’s life in memorable verse, while sanctifying the wisdom shared by scholars and saints over the centuries.
